You Never Know How Far A Change May Go
I used to wish I had discovered more tools and connected to a spiritual practice earlier in my life, but we all must go through what we go through to get to where we are. The moment was as real as if she were still alive. Recognizing now that there was so much to process, it’s no wonder it took time for her to finally appear in my dreams. I like this breath practice as a way to open the channel of receptivity through the left nostril. We are using this breath with a different intention here. This technique allows us to open so we can receive all that our dreams have to share. It can also help us to heal. Dream Veneration Breath Practice allows us to honor the gentle healing power and creative insight of our dreams. Take a moment to notice the support through your body. Notice the natural flow of breath in and out through your body. Now bring your hands, one over the other, to the center of the chest, connecting to the heart space. Take your right index finger and gently hold down the right nostril. 
A Better Day
Breathe gently in and out through the left nostril. Take your time, slowing the breath down. As you breathe gently in and out through the left nostril, feel as if you are activating your channel of receptivity. Open the pathway of inner sight through your dreams, through your breath. Continue for as long as you like. Know that each breath in and each breath out activates the dream space within. Open insight, clarity, and receptivity. It also helps us to regulate emotions. Our bodies are so amazing and complex. I had to use the bathroom, and I was so upset that I had interrupted the consolidation and learning process. As quickly as I could, I went back to sleep hoping that it wasn’t too late to recoup what was being consolidated. The meditation has also been adjusted to fit the context of this practice. The change work is not complete until, at the earliest, the next morning. This is because your brain learns while you sleep and dream. And you never know how far a change may go. They say that songbirds learn to sing in their sleep. The scientists take some young songbirds and wire up their little avian brains. They take the young songbirds and place them with a master songbird, because that’s how young songbirds learn how to sing. The master songbird sings his song, and the young songbirds cock their little avian heads to one side and listen. And as they listen, the researchers track their brain waves. After the young songbirds have listened to the master songbird, they begin to sing that song themselves. And as they sing, the researchers track their little avian brain waves. And what they found was that the brain waves were the same whether the young songbirds were listening to the master songbird or singing the song themselves. At some point the little songbirds begin to sing their own song. Once Is Enough
And, of course, the researchers saw the same types of brain waves when the young songbirds sang their own song as when they sang the same song as the master songbird and when they listened to the master songbird sing his song. And at night, when the researchers turn out the lights, the little songbirds would tuck their little heads underneath their wings and go to sleep. And as they slept, they would dream. Now, we don’t know what songbirds dream about. But when the researchers tracked their brain waves, they saw the same types of brain waves when they slept and dreamt as when they sang or listened to the master songbird. So, we do know that, on some level, the young songbirds were learning to sing in their sleep. And at some point tonight, you will go to bed, and you will go to sleep, and you will dream. Now, I don’t know what you will dream about. You may have wild and exciting dreams, or dull and boring dreams. You may have dreams with a cast of thousands, or dreams with just a few people. Some of you may think that you’ve had no dreams at all. Let that be a sign of the changes that are taking place on the deepest unconscious level. But now it’s time to come fully and completely back and be ready for a good night’s sleep. Everything unfolds in its own time and space. When I was younger, I was so disconnected from my paternal lineage that I was never even curious about practices. They were persecuted Chinese Catholics who left China to live in French colonial Viet Nam. I know much of the history of my maternal ancestors. I only just recently started exploring my heritage on my father’s side of the family. I discovered that my Grandma Oula’s grandfather was the king of Laos’s dream interpreter and spiritual counselor. A dream interpreter and spiritual counselor is simply someone who listens on a different level of perception. And now this resonates for me more profoundly as I dive deeper into my work, which entails connecting to a heritage of listening deeply. This acupressure point helps you to sit quietly and listen.
